In August 7 to 9, 2015. "Maimang Cup" First National Graduate mobile terminal application design innovation contest finals held at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Competition is held by the Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, China Association for Science and co-sponsored by Youth Science and Technology Center, the National Steering Committee for professional degree graduate education project co-sponsored, Beijing University of Posts and contractors.

" Maimang Cup" is one theme of events named "National Graduate innovative practice a series of activities," which is also the Ministry of Education level event. Competition around the status quo and development trend of mobile terminals and mobile Internet, is designed to improve the run game through graduate students' innovative practice ability, cultivate innovative talents for China's mobile Internet industry, promote quality of postgraduate training overall. 617 teams from a total of 123 units of graduate students unit entered the competition through online trial, the final selection of 150 works of 60 colleges and universities into the national finals.

4 students from WHU-NERCMS, Wu Yafei, Yao Xuechun, Fangbo Wei, Li Shangzhen (instructor: Hu Ruimin, Wang Xiaochen) finished work "Listen Where" participated in this contest. After works display, fierce competition aspects of the respondent, the participating team won the national final creative award.

There are 6 teams which won the first prize in the national finals. Two teams from National Engineering Research Center for Multimedia Software (Wuhan University) won creative prize, representing one third of the winning team.

3D audio technology is through the multi-speaker playback technology, headphone playback technology so that the resulting sound image can move in three-dimensional space, which is one of the main development direction of audio in future. The current mainstream 3D audio technology can be divided into two categories: one is for multi-speaker playback, including wave field synthesis, spherical harmonic decomposition and the three technical schools and other multi-channel, their common feature is the use of space within the requirement to meet certain distribution a plurality of speakers to reconstruct three-dimensional sound field; the other is for headphone playback head-related transfer function technique (HRTF). Sound waves emitted from the sound source decay after the transfer process reached the ears, and the affected body scattering and diffraction effects, the whole process can HRTF equivalent, which features 3D sound can be achieved through the headphone playback, easy to use personal mobile environment. MPEG audio standardization process launched 3D in 2012, and began to deploy and standards-related work, the Ministry of Science and Huawei were also proposed R & D needs and research objectives 3D audio system in 2014 and 2013.

In support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and more than 863 National Natural Science Foundation youth face projects under the National Multimedia Software Engineering Research Center (Wuhan University) Hu Ruimin team for 3D audio collection, processing, encoding, transmission and playback core technology research, evaluation and other direction. "Listen Where" entries using HRTF database modeling, using spatial interpolation scheme to improve the HRTF convolution model of 3D sound field in different radii in the mobile terminal developed China's first 3D audio production, broadcasting, sharing software - "Listen where". Software can generate different distances, horizontal angle and elevation angle 3D audio, 3D audio can achieve smooth motion.
