Academic lecture by Prof. Lu Hanqing from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences

       On the morning of September 6, 2016, Prof. Lu Hanqing from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences came to our center for academic exchange and guidance.

Professor Lu Hanqing conducted a report entitled "Network Multimedia Analysis and Service", with rich and detailed content, and the students also heard with relish. For multimedia analysis technology and application services, Prof. Lu takes video and image analysis technology as a starting point, and introduces the latest research progresses, including feature extraction and feature recognition, as well as the clothing derived from it Identification and other applications. Based on the image recognition technology, semantic search can be realized. Prof. Lu's example of "Bill Gates" is used to describe the related results of semantic search. Video recognition technology can also help users to achieve personalized multimedia entertainment needs. Professor Lu. for example, describes the single player as the perspective of live events services.

Prof. Wang Zhongyuan teacher talked about the identification of clothing technology, which often need to select certain characteristics of clothing to identify the actual application of the clothing characteristics of the selection, is still a question to be considered. Professor Lu believes that in the clothing identification, color and texture are very important features, and clothing features such as high and low short sleeves, round neck, etc. can also help us to further improve the recognition rate of clothing.

Professor Liang Chao said that when new graduate students are enrolled, many new students are still confused about the research contents and research direction in the following learning process. He hoped Professor Lu could give some instructive suggestions so that new students could have more. It is clear which research directions can be more easily obtained good research results. Professor Lu said that for the information age, the development of mobile applications is the future trend in real applications there are many problems, such as: mobile device battery life for the application of energy consumption has a higher demand, and the low computational power of the device relative to the desktop makes the application more efficient.
